Introduction to Events

The KLC / Community House at 70 Taylors Road is available for knowledge-sharing events by community groups. Some spaces are not yet fully operational – check before booking. We strongly encourage presenters to deposit a copy of their presentation or supporting notes for the permanent record on the KLC website.

PLEASE NOTE: If the Australian Electoral Commission requests the use of the KLC / Community House for voting for the forthcoming federal election (due before mid-2025), any other bookings for the same dates are likely to be cancelled.

 

Ideas for future events

Sometimes events are proposed but no date has been set. Organisers may seek an indication of community support before making a commitment to proceed.

Wide-screen television screen with HDMI sockets, WiFi and internet connectivity.

Data Projector (with notice).

House laptop (HP ProBook).

Radio boombox.

Brother printer/scanner.

Laminator.

 

Rules

The venues are reserved for events of a knowledge-sharing or educational nature. Groups that already have regular bookings at other venues are discouraged from switching.

No alcohol, smoking or vaping.

No animals inside the building.

Please do not download entertainment-type films over the Centre’s Internet account. There are many DVDs with films available already for enjoyment via the television screen. Please do not or watch violent, sexually explicit or conspiratorial material.

Children accompanied by an adult are welcome. Colouring materials are available. However, the KLC is not accredited to provide professional childcare services.

Fees

For not-for-profit community groups, a fee may be charged depending on capacity to pay. Commercial firms and government authorities will be charged a fee, with $50 for a two-hour booking being indicative. All fees are retained by the KLC for operations and maintenance; (the KLC pays no rent to the property owners).

Dates and times

When joining online meetings from other places, remember that Norfolk Time (NFT) is UTC+11 or AEST+1 and that Norfolk Island Daylight Saving Time (NFDT) is UTC+12 or AEST+2. Some calendar programs such as Outlook will convert automatically.
