Simon Gorta, University of New South Wales – 5:00pm

Simon’s extensive research over the past 3 years has demonstrated that Common Starlings and Tarler Birds (Purple Swamphens) present a significant threat to surface-nesting seabirds on Phillip Island, impacting breeding success through predation. Simon will provide an overview of a new project investigating control methods for Starlings and Tarler birds on Phillip Island, and the resulting impact on Whalebird breeding success. He will also discuss the potential implications of an incursion of the H5 avian influenza strain.

Free of charge, gold coin donation for tea or coffee.
