Spotlighting the Importance of Threatened Species Day

National Threatened Species Day in early September serves as a crucial reminder of the plants and animals facing the risk of extinction.

This year, in commemoration, we invite you to the premiere of Sorrel Wilby’s documentary, “Exploring the Natural History of Norfolk Island.” This 50-minute film captures Sorrel’s recent Churchill Fellowship journey, during which she visited natural history museums and libraries worldwide to examine archived specimens and colonial-era artworks from Norfolk Island, of species that have sadly been lost to extinction.

Following the screening, which is scheduled at the Knowledge and Learning Centre, 70 Taylors Road, at 5:15 PM for a 5:30 PM start on Friday 6 September, there will be a brief Q&A session with Sorrel, where she will share more about her adventure and insights.

The screening is free, but we kindly ask for a gold coin donation towards the Knowledge and Learning Center, to thank them for hosting this event.Tea and coffee will be available beforehand and afterwards.

If you have any questions about this event, please contact Sara Freeland on 55089 or sara.freeland1@dcceew.gov.au.
