Norfolk Island has hosted visits from the Country University Centres initially on 2-5 November 2023. The visitors examined the prospect of obtaining funding for a Regional University Study Hub based on the Island. Despite the title, these study hubs serve vocational education students, not just university candidates.
Dr Madeleine Lawler, Chief Executive Officer of Regional Development Australia (Mid-North Coast NSW) lodged an application on 15 December 2023. In March 2024 the Commonwealth’s Minister for Education advised that the application was unsuccessful. RDA Mlodged a revised submission on 15 October 2024. We thank Dr Lawler and Dianne Ward for their intercession. This initiative, if approved, would have its own identity and governing board, but would be intended to share premises with the Knowledge and Learning Centre.
