Regional Tertiary Study Hub

Norfolk Island hosted a visit from the Country University Centres on 2-5 November 2023 to examine the prospect of obtaining funding for a Regional University Study Hub based on the Island. Three documents explain the concept and the steps needed to bring a hub into reality, plus one link to the government website:

Despite the title, these study hubs serve vocational education students, not just university candidates.

Dr Madeleine Lawler, Chief Executive Officer of Regional Development Australia (Mid-North Coast NSW) lodged an application on the Island’s behalf on 15 December 2023 and a revised submission on 15 October 2024. We thank Dr Lawler and Dianne Ward for their intercession. On 3 February 2025, the Minister for Education announced approval.

The hub will have its own identity and governing board constituted of community members. The board is expected to take occupation of 72 Taylors Road (formerly The Shoebox retail shop) on 1 May 2025, to prepare for an official opening in September 2025.
