The economy and public budgeting

There have been numerous reports on the economy of Norfolk Island and on the difficulty that the Island’s community has in funding from local sources the services necessary to support a contemporary society. Repeatedly, reports attempt to discover some industry that can generate sufficient revenue – export income – to sustain the Island’s population. Few reports acknowledge that this goal may never be achievable.
