Sustainability
Many Norfolk Island leaders have held an understanding of the meaning of and importance of ‘sustainability’ and have launched initiatives to promote self-sufficiency, sustainable prosperity and environmental protection.
Here we provide a snapshot of some of the initiatives, both previous and contemporary.
Nature conservation
The Norfolk Island Flora and Fauna Society is the primary custodians of knowledge about the natural environment and the natural sciences.

Sustainable Norfolk
This thoughtful but regrettably short lived initiative was promoted by Ms Robin Adams, Chair of the Norfolk Island Regional Council prior to its unilateral dismissal by the Commonwealth in 2019. The attached PDF has captured the short-lived blog that it established.
